IMPORTANT: Marine Park Green Zones (NO FISHING)

Fishing is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the following Marine National Park Green Zones:

Geoffrey Bay, Alma Bay, Florence Bay, Gowrie Bay, Radical Bay, Balding Bay, and the Five Beach Bay area.

Magnetic Island offers excellent land-based and boat fishing in unrestricted zones across the island:

  • Picnic Bay: Fish from the iconic jetty or the rocks near the Surf Club.

  • Nelly Bay: Great land-based access along the harbour breakwater.

  • Horseshoe Bay: Ideal for beach casting, calm water fishing, and boat access.

  • West Point: Popular spot for pelagics and sunset land-based casting.

  • Middle Reef & Orchard Rocks: Premier boat spots holding strong reef species.
